Privacy Policy

Your privacy is extremely important. This privacy policy document describes in detail the types of personal information is collected and recorded by us and how we use it. At My Cancerdiaries, we recognize that privacy of your personal information is important. Here is information on what types of personal information we receive and collect when you use and visit mycancerdiaries.com, and how we safeguard your information. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Who we are

Our website address is: https://mycancerdiaries.com.  This page has last been updated on 1/22/24. Privacy information is controlled by Claudia De Pasquale who can be reached at claudia@mycancerdiaries.com.

What Data we collect and why we collect it

We collect personal information that you provide to us. Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and/or browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our website.

Data from Email Forms

To assist with sending you requested information, we use Convertkit to collect and store your email address. Privacy Policy outlines their use of your personal data and anonymized data https://convertkit.com/privacy here. You may opt out of the collection of your data by unsubscribing (we will remove your data) and contacting them using the instructions on their privacy page https://convertkit.com/privacy.

Data from Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Data collected for Analytics – Google Analytics

We use Google analytics to record information about the pages a user has seen, for example the URL of the page, time of day, device used, etc. The information that we collect anonymized and sent to Google Analytics for analysis. Google Analytics mainly uses first-party cookies to report on visitor interactions on this website.

Users may disable cookies or delete any individual cookie.

In addition, Google Analytics supports an optional browser add-on that – once installed and enabled – disables measurement by Google Analytics for any site a user visits. Note that this add-on only disables Google Analytics measurement.

Google Analytics also collects Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to provide and protect the security of the service, and to give website owners a sense of which country, state, or city in the world their users come from (also known as “IP geolocation”). See this page for Google Analytics security and usage of data: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245.

Data for Tracking Readers

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to access or store information.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. If you wish to disable cookies, you may do so through your individual browser options. More detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers can be found at the browsers’ respective websites.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Affiliate Links

My Cancerdiaries uses Amazon affiliate links. If you purchase an item through an affiliate link on my blog, Youtube, Instagram or Pinterest, I may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. I am only recommending products that I have personally used on my healing journey.

Who we share your data with

At mycancerdiaries.com we safeguard your personal information and we will never sell, rent or lease your personal Data to third parties.  If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Our Services are not directed to and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with Personal Data, we will take steps to remove such data.
